On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, students from the 2nd Gymnasium of Kalabaka, Greece, embarked on an exciting virtual journey into the realm of materials science. Guided by their teacher, Dimitra Sanida, and Kostas Giannakopoulos, a researcher from the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute at NCSR Demokritos, the session lasted 50 minutes and attracted 23 participants.
During the event, students were led through cutting-edge materials science laboratories, where they witnessed firsthand the development of new materials for nanoelectronics and photovoltaics. They also delved into the functions of the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and engaged in discussions about the practical applications of these materials in energy conversion and water conservation.
Through this immersive experience, students gained valuable insights into the dynamic field of materials science, recognizing its pivotal role in shaping our future.
